Training and Jr. Convention

Dear Friends,

It is my privilege to work with you and your schools, in association with ACE.  For those of us who have ACE schools, we know the extreme importance of TRAINING.  I took this training last Summer, and also 5 – years before that, just like they recommend.  Sometimes we think we know it all, or know more about how ACE works, than ACE knows, but that is simply not true.

Over the nearly 40 years now of using the ACE curriculum, I have noticed the many revisions of their procedures manual, (which is our guiding document for our schools) and the reason for the changes is from input submitted by schools like ours, and the training has also been updated and improved.  This training is crucial for the success of a great school, and when I visit schools that are struggling, I know a couple of things immediately: number one – they are not following the procedures manual, or number two – they do not have a properly trained staff; and many times – both!

While I’m at it – let me also remind you about the New Mexico Junior Convention, Oct. 19-20, with the attachment.

Mr. Wayne Musson, who is ACE’s official representative for our Frontier Region, has asked me to forward to you this reminder below about the upcoming opportunities for Supervisor and Monitor Training, here it is in it’s entirety.

Your Fellow Servant,

John Boggs, Pastor

Rio Grande Baptist Church

———————————————- PLEASE READ – BELOW! —– Mr. Musson writes:

The question of the day; Is your school staff prepared for the 2017-2018 school year?  New supervisors need to trained in the ACE procedures.  Veteran supervisors who have not been through supervisor training in the last 5 years are also in need of the training this summer.  Here are the two supervisor training venues for the Four Corners area.

Frontier Regional Student Convention Promo

Dear Friends,

https://youtu.be/ZNWUu0mLHSs

The word of God tells us in, Prov. 18:24, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. ”  Our Lord and Saviour said, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down His life for His friends”, – John 15:13.  Anyway, all of you I consider my friends, but we all have another Friend that we serve, as we serve each other, and that is Jesus Christ.  Thank you for your service to Him.

One of our friends, James Leeder from Heritage Christian Academy, (Bella Vista Baptist – in Albuquerque) has spent time and effort to make us a promotional video, and I want to thank him personally for all his work to make this available for our Regional Convention, March 12 – 16, 2018.

This is for all of us to use, as we promote our Regionals to our fellow A.C.E. schools, in or near our 4 – Corners region, (New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona).  We also have schools from Texas, Kansas, — and in the past from Nevada, and California and Oklahoma who have participated.  If you look us the land area, we cover a lot of territory (sadly – sometimes forgotten) with the Frontier Regional Student Convention.  I just left Mr. Dawson a voice mail stating, that we have the potential even now, to see 7 new schools come, for the first time, and with the blessings of God on this video, perhaps you could recruit even more.

I’m sending this email to A.C.E. – so please let no one take this the wrong way, but our Regional Convention is such a tremendous event, and with ISC usually further to the East, let’s all make this event something for our region that all our students can enjoy and remember for the rest of their lives!  I love ISC, and we have been there for the past 12 years in a row, and I only wish that you could be a part of it, – what a great meeting with students from literally all over the world, coming and competing – WOW!  One reason some don’t get this opportunity, is that they don’t participate in a Regionals.  In the video, Brother Mark Lenentine says that Regionals is the single thing they do that promotes school spirit the most, and I agree with him.

Please watch the video, and I would love to have your feedback, about what you think about it, and use it starting as soon as school starts – promoting your Frontier Regional Regional Convention.  The competition level is high, but when your Students see others do their events, and can tell the dedication and effort to do those things, I hear this over and over, “I can do that”, or, “Next year I …”.  I’ve said before that I can’t teach my own Students to do all that stuff, but by going to Regionals, other Students have taught my Students what and how to do these events, it’s really amazing just what and how good these Students can preform, to me, this is what keeps my interest going in this A.C.E Regionals.  Again, I believe that starting the very first week of school will really prove to help you and your school this year.  The paperwork and preparation can be daunting perhaps at times, but if you start early, it is so much easier that waiting till the last 2 – 3 weeks before Regionals.

Suggestions:

Print out an Events list – (attached) – and have your students pick out, up to 12 events they want to participate in – have them to commit to them – within the first 2 weeks of school. —– VITAL!!!!!

Print out a Complete Guidelines manual – the events are all listed, and make sure to be familiar with the ‘General Guidelines’ – ie: for music & platform events — ‘General Guidelines’ for dress and appearance standards – what to bring or not bring, etc.

Even now – commit to come – adjust your school calendar now for Regionals and ISC, start your fund raising, have meetings and make your plans, reserve rooms, – but most importantly – have your Students begin to practice, or start projects – NOW

Ask others how they prepare – call me if you have questions or concerns – I don’t necessarily know all the answers off the top of my head, but I can and will find out what you need to know, and am willing to help you through the process.

Below are instructions from Brother Leeder as to how you can put this video on your Church / School’s website, or how to share this video with friends.

Your Friend in His Service,

jb
